Kingsbridge Dementia Friendly Community

The Kingsbridge Dementia Friendly Community is a group of individuals who have been meeting for two years on a voluntary basis to raise awareness of dementia in Kingsbridge and the surrounding areas.  The group adopted a constitution in July 2017 and is now an unincorporated charity.  Rebecca Weare has volunteered to chair the group and Beccy Bristow has volunteered as treasurer.

We have just finished a consultation period asking people living with dementia locally to complete a questionnaire about the services and support that they need.  We are putting in place an action plan to move forward.

We had a stall at Kingsbridge Fair Week and in the Tesco foyer to raise awareness of the group and promote the questionnaire.  Local businesses have shown an interest and Costa and Fusion Lifestyle at Quayside Gym invited us to provide a dementia friends information session to their staff.

We gave a presentation to Kingsbridge & Salcombe Chamber of Commerce and at Kingsbridge Community College.  The Year 9 students at Kingsbridge Community College held a competition to design a logo for the group.
